They found a piece of land called “the one who appeared”.

It was destiny.

THE LAND

This land is exposed South between the hills of Grosseto, Magliano in Toscana and is only 10km away from the harbour of Talamone but at a very favourable altitude (250m) for the right wind and humidity to grow olive trees.

The terroir is the classical wine and olive tree favourite: very rich in calcium and sand, very pour in clay: they say the more the plant suffers the better the olive oil. Indeed olive trees hate to have wet feet and thus clay rich land that can usually be found in the plains are not adapted to their cultivation.

THE OLIVE TREES

In 2005 we started our adventure with 200 olive trees that were roughly fifty years old, from a variety of Tuscan varieties (frantoio, leccino, moraiolo, pendolino and correggiolo). We totally revamped it with the help of agronomist from the university of Florence, with peculiar pruning and organic fertilizers.

We then planted thanks to her 1400 young shoots of four Tuscan varieties of olive tree (frantoio, leccino, maurino and pendolino), attentively selecting the plant nursery. Every variety comes from one “mother” selected to guarantee the best quality and stability of taste.

In 2014 we finally planted 800 olive trees from four slightly different still Tuscan varieties (Maurino, pendolino, leccio del corno and canino) to enrich the breadth of our assemblages.
